Coenzyme Q10 (isoprenyl benzoquinone/ubiquinone) is a vitamin-like substance, natural to the human body. Coenzyme Q10 is widely promoted as a substance in cosmetics, giving health and longevity of the skin.

The real benefit for the heart health and all cells that transform energy starts with the additional intake. The reason is that the Q10 natural levels start decreasing slowly after reaching the age of 20.

The largest amounts are concentrated in the inner membrane of the cell mitochondria, but can also be found in the membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum (EP network), peroxisomes and lysosomes.

Its functions are associated with a key role in the processes of energy generation and more specifically - the transfer of electrons in the energy chains of the inner mitochondrial membranes in the synthesis of ATP.

What Is Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 (isoprenyl benzoquinone/ubiquinone) is a vitamin-like substance, natural to the human body.

What Do We Need to Know About Coenzyme Q10

Q10 is found in all human cells. The largest amounts are concentrated in the inner membrane of the cell mitochondria, but can also be found in the membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum (EP network), peroxisomes and lysosomes.

Its functions are associated with a key role in the processes of energy generation and more specifically- the transfer of electrons in the energy chains of the inner mitochondrial membranes in the synthesis of ATP. Generally speaking, 95% of all energy ATP molecules are synthesized within the body with the help of ubiquinone (the natural form of coenzyme Q10).

It is assumed that Q10 is synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum. Larger quantities can be found in cells with higher production activity: heart cells, liver cells, spleen and pancreas cells. Apart from its importance for the energy efficiency of the body, coenzyme Q10 (KoQ10N2) has proven antioxidant properties.

Purpose of Coenzyme CoQ10

It is believed that the consumption of coenzyme Q10 leads to its accumulation in the cell’s mitochondria and thus maintains a constant ATP synthesis by lowering the levels of free radicals passing through the cellular and mitochondrial membranes.

Coenzyme Q10:

  • increases and improves energy generation;
  • strengthens the heart;
  • slows aging – antioxidant properties.

Possible Side Effects

Coenzyme Q10 is a well-studied substance. It is believed that there are no serious side effects with the intake of the recommended doses.

However, there have been reports of gastric irritation, abdominal pain, nausea, and headache.

What Are the Optimal Doses

The consumption of 50 to 100 mg Q10 per day is considered sufficient and well studied.

Way of Intake

One tablet of 50 mg per 12 hours (one in the morning and one in the evening).

In Which Sports and Health Supplements Can Find CoQ10

The daily dose of phosphatidylcholine is determined according to the percentage of the content of the active substance in the product.

It is best to follow the instructions on the packaging since the percentage of phosphatidylcholine may vary from 10 to 35%.

Coenzyme Q10 is also known as CoQ10, Ubiquinone, Ubiquinol, trans 2, 3-dimethoxy-5-methyl-6-decaprenyl-1, 4-benzoquinone.
